Session FAQs

Q: Where's the studio?
A: Anywhere you want. Any park, field, urban downtown, farm--we can make almost anything work. If it's outside of Western North Carolina, however, clients must pay my travel expenses. When considering locations, flowers, trees, and bodies of water have the potential to be wonderful nature backdrops. A field with medium high grass also works well, too. Other terrific backdrops can be anything with a fence, a porch, old houses or old barns with rustic board or metal walls. As long as it's simple, uncluttered (no litter or junk piles), and well-lit, almost anything will work. These are just a few suggestions.

Q: When is a good time for a session?
A: I prefer natural light photography, so it's best to use morning hours and evening hours to avoid harsh and unflattering shadows. Weekday mornings and evenings are best for me since I have a family and prefer to be available to them on the weekends, however, I am flexible to book occasional weekends because I know many clients can't be available during the week. You can email me at always.faith@yahoo.com to set up a time that works for both of us.

Q: What kinds of pictures does Always Faith Photography (AFP) offer?
A: Families, Engagements, Kids, Seniors, & Pets

Q: Does AFP do weddings, maternity sessions, or births?
A: Not typically, but I may occasionally make exceptions. Feel free to contact me with special requests, and if I'm unable to provide the services you require, I may be able to refer you to someone who can.

Q: Does AFP provide props for photo sessions?
A: As a rule, no. I prefer to use items that are personal to you (furniture/musical instruments/pets/etc) in order to make your session as custom as possible, however, I do occasionally bring items to use (a wagon, chalkboard, or other such objects) if I have a particular shot I'd like to get.

Q: What should I/we wear?
A: Comfort is key, because if you're uncomfortable, it can reflect in the images. For what these comfortable clothes should look like, there are some basic guidelines here: http://corinanielsen.com/blog/dos-donts/ As with any set of rules though, there are always exceptions, so don't feel like the world will end if you don't follow all the dos and don'ts.

Q: Can I/we bring a change of clothes?
A: Yes, but keep in mind that sessions are generally about an hour long and if you're spending too much time changing clothes, it means less time for snapping pictures. A good rule of thumb is no more than one complete outfit change. It's better to do partial outfit changes, such as putting a different shirt on with the same pair of jeans, or using hats or accessories, etc.

Q: How long is an average session?
A: An average session generally lasts about an hour. Large group sessions may last a little over an hour since it takes a little more time to pose large groups successfully.

Q: What is included in a session?
A: Each session will receive a photo cd with at least 10 edited, printable poses, along with a print release for you to print as many as you want. Occasionally sessions will have more than 10 printable poses, depending on the amount of time I have in editing and the number of photos that turn out well. Should that happen, consider it a free bonus. =)

Q: Does AFP offer prints?
A: I have a professional print lab that I can order prints from, but I require payment up front and it will take longer to receive prints.

Q: Where should I get my pictures printed?
A: Local, cheap photo labs are not created equal. Sometimes you can get good prints from them, and sometimes not. Sometimes the same store will give you great prints one day and horrible prints the next. That's the nature of cheap photo labs. That said, I know of one local CVS that has a pretty good track record when I've needed quick, decent prints. If you're local to me, I can recommend that one, but every store's machines (and machine operators) are different, so it really does vary by store. Online labs like mpix.com are pretty safe bets also.

Q: What can I do with my photos?
A: You may make creative changes and/or post them online as long as you credit AFP for the original photo. You don't have to get prior permission or notify me in any way as long as you credit/link back to http://alwaysfaithphotography.blogspot.com/, however, I'm always interested to see what/how my photos are used, so a quick email (always.faith@yahoo.com) to let me know is always appreciated. Also, please note that some of the photos I take during sessions may be used for advertising AFP and may be posted in various places online at my discretion.

Q: How much does an average session cost?
A: Please see the PRICING page.

Q: What do I do if I have a question that wasn't answered here?
A: Email always.faith@yahoo.com
